Coach Pitch (AA)

Ages 7 & 8

(Age as of and including April 30, 2024)

Overview

At this age group, we begin competitive play. Again, our emphasis is on teaching fundamentals. The teams play games using a coach as a pitcher instead of a player as pitcher. Coaches will pitch from a further distance (35') and at a higher velocity than what players will see at the 5 and 6 year old level. In the Fall and Spring seasons, there are Challenge and All-Star teams in this age group so if you are interested, please inquire!

Practices

Practices are usually 1 1/2 - 2 hours and are usually held on Field #1 at Quail Hollow Middle School. There are usually two practices per week: one weekday practice (Monday through Friday evening) and one Saturday practice. After the 1st game, there is usually just a weekday practice. The weekday practice will rotate to a different day each week.

Games

Teams are usually scheduled 10 games and they are played on Field #1 at Quail Hollow Middle School. There is usually one game per week: one weekday game (Monday through Friday evening) or one Saturday game; some weeks you might have two games scheduled. There is also an End of Season tournament.

Challenge

We also offer a "Challenge" program at this level to provide the Advanced level players the opportunity to improve their skills through competitive practices and competition against other associations top players. Visit our Challenge Baseball page for additional information on this program.

PSAA is a non-profit 501(c)(3) boys and girls youth athletic association located on the Southside of Charlotte, NC which shares Quail Hollow Middle School's athletic fields at Park Road and Smithfield Church Road as our primary facility. Other schools also provide space depending on the sport.
