PSAA Basketball

Our co-ed basketball season runs from late Oct thru February with initial player registration sign up dates starting in early September!! Practice sessions, sanctioned regular season games, playoff events and All-Star tournaments occur during this time period with all activity ending no later than the first week of March. Boys and Girls ages 4 through 17 are all welcome!!

League eligibility is determined for each of our respective Divisions by the player's age as of August 1^st. Be sure to check out the profile description for each Age Division by navigating to that specific webpage under ‘Programs’.

Practices for 8U-17U start early November and run throughout the season. There are holiday breaks in Nov & Dec with games/practice then resuming the first week of January. All age groups may have the opportunity to play teams from other Associations around the Charlotte community. All age groups, except the 6U Instructional League, play an end-of-the-year tournament which always holds a lot of excitement! Our end of year tournament also often includes a 3-point contest and skills contests for the younger age groups.

Additional Information

Team Uniform jerseys will be provided and team names determined by Coach request.
A professional photographer takes individual and group pictures across 6U thru 12U with Photo Day typically targeted for a Saturday in January. There is never an obligation to buy.
CMS school policy states that NO FOOD OR DRINK is allowed in the gyms. Please leave the gym cleaner than you found it!

Important Registration Dates

No player evaluations for 6U or 17U are required; Future details for the 6U &14U age divisions will be directly communicated to registered families at a later time; Roster formations for 14U specifically are expected to conducted on Sat Nov 16^th (after) middle school try-out’s have finalized.

Important Dates & Times

Sat Oct 26th: Player evaluations are conducted (afternoon sessions at QHMS with exact times later communicated); open gym opportunities will be available for 17u with player scrimmages and practice sessions.
Oct 28-29th: Make up player evaluations for 8U-12U are offered (exact time/location details to get communicated as we get closer) for those not able to attend the Oct26th session.
Oct 30 thru Nov 1st: Coaches schedule league meetings to form team rosters with players drafted within each age group (ages 8U thru 12U only)
Nov 2nd-16th: Regular weekday practices begin for all age groups 8U thru 17U
Nov 17th: Games begin (Saturday) for 8U, 10U, 12U & 17U only at various venues (times/locations will be communicated once final # of teams are determined); Age 14U game dates are tentatively targeted to launch for Sat Dec 7th
Dec 7th : Our 8 week program for our 6U instructional sessions are targeted to start at Smithfield Elementary; we will work with parents to organize this child into either Session A or B based on their time preferences and the overall Age Division # of registrants.

- Session B Starts: 10:00am
  *Parents can indicate during the registration sign up process (in the Comments field) which Session they prefer!
Feb 8th: Final week of regular season games
Feb 15th: Playoffs begin (Sat) for 8U thru 17U - earlier weeknight games, as necessary
Feb 22th: Championship Saturday for Divisions 8U thru 17U; Sunday, if needed
March 1st: Potential All Star Tournament for interested coaches / players across 8U thru 12U
