Welcome to Park Sharon Cheerleading! The Cheerleading Season at PSAA runs the begining of October through the end of February. Cheerleading is open to students ages 5 (must be in kindergarten) to 13; all levels of experience are welcome, including no experience.

SIDELINE CHEER

Our PSAA sideline cheerleaders engage with the fans and keep the player’s spirits high during our winter PSAA basketball games. Cheerleaders learn the skills of sideline cheerleading, memorize fun cheers and chants, and perform dance routines during the games and half-times. Our sideline cheerleaders love to smile, are enthusiastic and encourage the fans to have spirit and fun!

(*Note: this is not a competition cheerleading team. Only mini-stunts and formations are taught, such as cartwheels and chair-height lifts. There are no tosses or flips.)

Our Park Sharon Cheerleaders cheer for the Park Sharon Basketball teams. Games are held on Saturdays and will begin in November.  Cheerleading practices are held on Thursday eventings from 6:00-7:00 at Smithfield Elementary.

THE SEASON
The Cheerleading Season at PSAA runs from the begining of October through the end of February. Cheerleading is open to ages 5 (must be in kindergarten) to 13; all levels of experience are welcome, including no experience.

Cheerleading Squads participate at the 10am game each Saturday at Quail Hollow Middle School (QHMS).

 
SQUADS
We have 36 cheerleaders representing PSAA, which are divided into 3 squads. All 3 squads cheer at the same game on Saturday at 10AM. Cheer Squads rotate around the court between quarters.

Cheer Squads are based on age but are flexible to carpooling needs, special requests, etc. Our Park Sharon Cheerleaders cheer for the PSAA Basketball Teams.  Games are on Saturdays. Cheerleading practices are held Thursdays from 6:00-7:00  at Smithfield Elementary (The day of the week for practice is determined based upon the availability of the volunteer coaches and building availability.)

 

UNIFORMS
The PSAA Cheerleading uniform consists of a Park Sharon Cheerleader logo vest, skirt, bloomers, hair bow, and a set of pom-poms. All pieces are yours to keep.

 

PARENT INVOLVEMENT 
All parents are expected to contribute to the concession stand once during the season by either donating items (a sign up list will be provided) or volunteering their time (a two-hour shift).

 
COACHES & SQUAD LEADERS

Park Sharon Athletic Association is a non-profit recreation league open to all youth in south Charlotte. The Park Sharon Cheer Director and Coaches generously volunteer their time, talent, and expertise to our PSAA organization. Our Cheer Director is a volunteer parent who is present at all practices and games to provide responsible adult supervision.  PARK SHARON DOES NOT PROVIDE INSURANCE FOR ANY PARTICIPANTS OR COACHES.
